I have been divorced and want to take my ex-spouse off the mortgage?
At Approved Mortgage Inc we will use all of our resources and knowledge available to assist you through this change. Often we have clients who want to take over the matrimonial home and pay out the ex-partner.
There are several different ways to do this depending on your situation. Sometimes it’s as simple as refinancing the current mortgage into just your name. This refinance (or new mortgage) will pay out the current mortgage which is in both names. At the lawyer’s office, the lawyer will then also transfer the property from both names into just your name.
Usually this can all be done after a divorce agreement has been settled. If the divorce has not been settled, it can still be done, but the ex-partner will need to agree to it, and be willing to sign that they agree to it.
